LGBT-Fundraiser ROCKED!

Jeffrey Tate and Brad Taylor opened their home off Frankfort Avenue this evening for over sixty LGBT-folks and their allies who showed up to express their support for Louisville's next Mayor. So many questions-here's a few:

A few members of the audience were employees of the Metro Government, and they asked if Tyler would support domestic-partnership benefits for city employees.
Tyler's answer: "Yes I will."
How will you use your position as Mayor to spread what's good about Louisville to the rest of the state, like our Fairness protections for example? - Jeff Rodgers
Tyler's Answer: "Louisville need to take more of a leadership position in the state. I have lobbied in Frankfort for the last few years and found that our city isn't seen as a leader by the state. Not only is there there a disconnect from the rest of the state, but there's even a disconnect between Metro Council and Louisville's delegation in Frankfort. We need to be working together first, if we ever expect to play a leadership role in the state."

Tyler's Answer: "Talk to your friends, get a yard sign, and share some of your ideas and good fortune with the campaign."

Special guests even included Metro Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh. She's so fierce.

1/2 to Forecastle

“Halfway to Forecastle” was a mini-fest Saturday night that featured an all-electronic music line-up for the first time in the festival’s history, with artists performing on three stages inside THE POINTE. It was pretty AMAZING. For one, it was SOLD OUT! Very awesome!


Neither Tyler, nor I, had the foresight to have tickets which was a bit of a crisis until we ran into to Tyler Allen-Supporter James Harvey- who is helping to coordinate a most-fierce effort with Brycc House and LIVEFEED Louisville for Haiti Relief. (If you haven't heard about this, CHECK IT OUT NOW.) Anyway- I'm not sure of how it happened but he got us in. We spent a great deal of time at that table learning about all things Brycc House and their Haiti Relief Effort (Our New Campaign Headquarters is a drop-off point btw for stuff to go to Haiti. Not on the list I found out about last night, used suitcases with wheels to put the stuff in. Also, blankets and shoes can be used, as long as they're clean.) What an AMAZING organization, but that's another entry.

In the back, there were eleventy-million people having nothing but fun. Yes- In Louisville: dancing, drinking and socializing- simultaneously. Wow! Funniest moment was while in VIP Section, I whisper to BEAUTIFUL LADY "You just met Louisville's next Mayor!" and while nice, she seemed mysteriously unimpressed. Only when she comes on stage later in night do we realize she is, the talented Melisa Young, aka Kid Sister, and probably more famous than a Mayor of Louisville will ever be.

HEADQUARTERS OPEN HOUSE

The Tyler Allen for Mayor Campaign had a OPEN HOUSE to show off their fancy new headquarters and I snapped these shots. There were a lot of people there, actually, but but I didn't snap many pictures because I was talking.

New Headquarters Grand Opening / Haiti Relief

Volunteers and supporters are welcome this Saturday, January 23, from 11 AM- 2 PM for the Grand Opening of the NEW Campaign Headquarters located in the Billy Goat Strut Building, at 600 East Main Street. READ MORE.

Also, be sure to help out the folks in Haiti by bringing with you some stuff they need. BRYCC House & LIVEFEED LOUISVILLE have asked for donations of these specific items (READ MORE):

bottled water, personal hygiene basics, soap, toothpaste, socks, deodorant, shoes, baking soda, or blankets

Tyler's Campaign office will be a drop-off location for this kind of stuff through the 31st. So look around and see what you can find!

People's Forum!

Second, just got the official press release of the upcoming "People's Forum" that we are hoping will help voters differentiate between what Tyler and the other candidates have to offer ALL Louisvillians. Here's the skinny for the event:

Ten of Louisville’s grassroots social justice organizations are joining forces to present “The People’s Forum,” a mayoral candidate forum on Tuesday, February 2, 6-8 p.m. at the Metro United Way Building, 2nd floor, 334 E. Broadway. A reception will follow the event from 8-9 p.m. in which candidates may meet and greet the Forum audience. Admission to “The People’s Forum” is free, and granted on a “first come, first served” basis. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Presenting organizations of “The People’s Forum” include: ACLU of Kentucky, Community Farm Alliance, Fairness Campaign, Hispanic/Latino Coalition, Jefferson County Chapter of Kentuckians For The Commonwealth, Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, Kentucky Jobs with Justice, Making Connections Network, Metropolitan Housing Coalition, and Women In Transition.

Each of the ten presenting organizations is non-partisan, and every mayoral primary candidate, regardless of political party affiliation, is invited to participate. Candidates will answer questions pre-submitted by each presenting group on issues important to their communities. Audience members will have the opportunity to submit questions that, dependent upon time, will be incorporated into the Forum.

ON THE RADIO!

Tyler will be a guest this week on the Louisville radio talk show MyViewMatters, which can be found at WKJK 1080 AM. The show is on Thursday night from 7-8pm.

One of the co-hosts Ed Martin, is a known 8664 supporter, while the other, Ed Springston, is an ardent supporter of one of the Republican candidates in the race,so it's going to be a lively discussion for sure!
